Bahamas

I've decided that as I grow as a photographer, I want to veer down a specific path. I want be a nature/wildlife photographer, or a commercial photographer. A determining factor, other than the job shadowing I had completed, was my vacation. When I went on vacation with my family, I had so much fun shooting outside. I love playing with the colors and the shapes. I love being able to capture the beauty of nature and put it into a photo for others to see. Here are some photos I took when I was in the Bahamas.

Baseball

Over the summer, my little brother played baseball. I went to a couple of his games out at the field to watch. I also took some pictures. I had a lot of fun playing around with the fence. I love the first photo, I like how it's not an obvious photo. The focus is on the fence, but you can see him watching the game in the background. The fence in the second photo works sort of like a frame. It is used like a frame, to draw your attention to him. This is also when I realized that I enjoy shooting for sports.

2nd Assignment: Depth of Field

This assignment was based on depth of field. Depth of field is the distance between the nearest and the furthest objects that give an image judged to be in focus in a camera. The easiest way for me to explain this so everyone understand is pretty much how clear or blurry the background of your image is. The lower the aperture number is the more blurred the background will be. Underneath each picture I have the number that the aperture was at. I shot these pictures at Carol Mahl's studio, Photography by Mahl. I was there today for a job shadowing that was required for my senior project. I asked her how I could change my aperture number on my camera and come to find out, my lens will not allow me to lower the number any. So, she was kind enough to let me experiment with her camera and this is the outcome.

First Assignment

I do not have much experience with photography, but I have always had an interest. My senior project mentor had encouraged me to begin a blog to show my progress with photography throughout this project. She will be giving me assignments here and there to show what I am learning. My first assignment was to post a picture that I have already taken, one that I am proud of. This picture was taken when I went on a family vacation to Nassau and Freeport in the Bahamas. I am most proud of this picture because I love the natural beauty that I captured on camera. Believe it or not, the flower in this picture was just as pretty in person.
