2nd Assignment: Depth of Field

This assignment was based on depth of field. Depth of field is the distance between the nearest and the furthest objects that give an image judged to be in focus in a camera. The easiest way for me to explain this so everyone understand is pretty much how clear or blurry the background of your image is. The lower the aperture number is the more blurred the background will be. Underneath each picture I have the number that the aperture was at. I shot these pictures at Carol Mahl's studio, Photography by Mahl. I was there today for a job shadowing that was required for my senior project. I asked her how I could change my aperture number on my camera and come to find out, my lens will not allow me to lower the number any. So, she was kind enough to let me experiment with her camera and this is the outcome.

  1. You definitely learned something from this assignment! What kind of lens do you have? This is something you need to pay attention to, because aperture is very important and you may need a wider aperture for low light situations. For example, with football action shots, your shutter speed needs to be higher so to compensate your aperture needs to be wider.

    Great second post!
